Hang on, she's not a movie star! Paris Hilton enjoys being mobbed by fans in Cannes (despite having only reality shows to her name)

The crowd in Cannes, obviously eager to throw some adoration on someone, thronged non-actress Paris Hilton as she finished an interview on a French television show last night.

Hilton, who's only claim to fame was a short-lived reality cable show with friend Nicole Richie and her own titular show, clearly basked in the attention as she posed in a sheer, mermaid-style beige gown and signed autographs outside the Canal + television studios.

The 33-year-old hotel heiress arrived to the French port earlier in the day with a smile as wide as her brimmed hat to attend the 65th annual Cannes Film Festival.

She showed no signs of jet lag or fatigue after the 11-hour flight from Los Angeles.

Indeed, she looked positively perky in an eye-catching spaghetti-strapped colourful shirt, black tights and fashionable black pumps.

She seemed in high spirits about her trip, tweeting to her seven million online followers: 'Just landed in Nice! So excited to rock Cannes! #YES!

The hotel heiress obviously got some shut eye while on the plane, because just hours before boarding her outbound flight, she had been partying so hard with pals that police were called.

The wild activities started Friday evening when Paris, old friend Lindsay Lohan, oil heir Brandon Davis and dozens of other young socialites attended a house party in the Hollywood Hills.

There was such noise and ruckus, that neighbours complained.

Police arrived early yesterday morning to order everyone home.

Hilton, wearing dark glasses and a cap, was seen leaving the property with Davis.

Upon arriving in Nice, the reality TV star was greeted by a throng of photographers, eager to snap guests arriving to the prestigious film festival, which runs until May 27.

The reality TV star was only too happy to obliged photographers with a smile and a pose.

'I've been working out and eating healthier and it feels great,' she says.

Paris Hilton stormed out of a U.S TV interview after she was asked if she was past her prime.

The reality TV star took offence at the question and pulled the plug on the interview with Dan Harris of ABC News at her Los Angeles mansion.

She first become agitated when the journalist suggested she had been eclipsed by her best friend turned rival, Kim Kardashian.

He asked: 'Do you worry at times that people who have followed in your footsteps like Kim Kardashian are over shadowing you?'

Through gritted teeth, she replied: 'No, not at all.'

She became even more irritated when mentioned that her latest reality TV show The World According to Paris has struggled in the ratings.

The journalist continued: 'Do you worry about your moment having passed?'

Hilton, 30, glanced across at her publicist off camera before getting up from her chair and stormed out.

She could be heard saying off camera: 'I don't want all this being used.'


And she's off: The reality star walked away when Harris suggested her 'moment' had passed


After a 'heated' discussion between Harris, Hilton and her publicist, she eventually returned to camera to deliver an apparently well-rehearsed answer.

'I've been doing this for 15 years now, so it's been a long time so just like any other business person or someone in the industry, it is always important to reinvent yourself and come up with new projects,' she said.

Before that Hilton had been happy to discuss her changing career.
'So many people that are rich do nothing.

So it was a surprise when she was seen in LA yesterday showing off a curvier figure in a fitted bright pink dress.

Paris was arriving to join Mario Lopez on stage for celebrity entertainment show Extra at shopping mall The Grove in Los Angeles.

That's not hot: While Paris's legs were still looking slim, her bold outfit betrayed an unflattering bump instead of her usually flat stomach


Paris flaunted her toned legs and arms, but the tight dress betrayed a bulge in place of her normally flat stomach.

She teamed her dress with an equally eye catching necklace, with high patent black heels and sunglasses and let her trademark blonde hair fall loose over her shoulders, maintaining her 'Barbie' look.

It is possible that a more relaxed attitude to her diet has led to the change in the star's figure.

Paris has been dating Hangover Part II director Todd Phillips, who she was spotted dining with at Hollywood's Madeo restaurant last night.

Paris dispelled the myth that LA starlets don't touch carbohydrates as she tucked in to lasagne, while Todd ordered the ravioli.

Paris was probably in need of a little relaxation following an alarming break in to her Malibu beach house over the Fourth of July weekend.

She had previously filed a restraining order against the intruder, who was luckily spotted by nearby paparazzi as he tried to enter the building.

Paris said she was thankful that the paparazzi had been there, even though she sometimes finds them 'annoying'.

Always comfortable in front of a camera, Paris recently took part in an edgy photo shoot for V magazine looking much thinner than the paparazzi snaps from The Grove yesterday.

Despite being a far cry from her usual look, Paris's slender body was in far greater evidence that it was yesterday, as she bared a perfectly toned stomach under a large Gothic-style coat.

While most passengers tried to get through the invasive security checkpoints at Los Angles LAX as quickly as possible, Paris took time out to strike several poses yesterday.

With her hair immaculately coiffed into long waves, she put a fashionable foot forward wearing grey trousers, a white blouse and grey pumps.


At one point she smiled and waved to the assembled photographers, then turned around, put her hands on her hips and struck another pose.

The heiress was on her way to the East Coast to visit with relatives.

After she arrived in New York, she tweeted: 'On my way to The Hamptons to spend a relaxing Memorial Day Weekend with my family.

Earlier in the day, Paris stopped by the Tonight Show with Jay Leno to promote her new reality series The World According to Paris.

She took to Twitter to let her fans know about experience: 'Backstage with @JayLeno. Love him! He is so funny and sweet! Such a cool guy! :)'

The two chatted about her new series and their mutual fondness of fancy cars.
