Billie Piper and Laurence Fox welcome second son together

Billie Piper and Laurence Fox have welcomed their second son together.

The 29-year-old actress, who is already mother to three-year-old Winston, is said to be doing well after the birth.

Laurence tweeted yesterday: 'One born every minute. We had our minute today. Couldn't be happier. Beautiful boy. Everything fine.'

The pair have yet to reveal a name for their newborn son.

A friend said: 'Mother and baby are doing extremely well. Billie and Laurence are thrilled to bits.'

Billie's pregnancy was even written into her latest theatre role in Neil LaBute’s play Reasons To Be Pretty.

Michael Attenborough, who directed the production, said Billie had ‘very generously offered to withdraw’ from the show after discovering she was expecting.

But he added: 'Billie was Neil LaBute’s and my first choice for the part - and fortunately the character is pregnant - so with a bit of judicious re-writing we’re all delighted she’ll be with us.

‘I told her that I’d love her to do it and she just wept on my shoulder. She thought that was it. She was thrilled.'

Shortly after Winston's birth in 2008, Billie revealed she was keen to have more children with Laurence.

She said: 'I used to want a big family, but now I am wondering if it would be OK if Winston was an only child!

'Seriously, I would like to have three children. I’m thinking of having two close together and leaving it a while, then having another.'

Billie added of motherhood: 'It’s really hard to put into words just how fantastic being a mum is. I really do love it. Life is so much better for having had Winston and I feel warmer as a person.'

Meanwhile, Laurence said in a recent interview that becoming father to Winston made him a better actor.

He told the Daily Telegraph: 'Becoming a parent gives you access to a whole world of feeling. It gives you a much stronger sense of life and death: becoming a father made me realise my own mortality.'

She may be heavily pregnant with her second child, but Billie Piper is certainly keeping active.

The actress, 29, was spotted sprinting to her car - perhaps due to a parking permit running out - after visiting a nail and beauty salon in London.

The former Doctor Who star and actor husband Laurence Fox are expecting a baby boy next month.


The couple confirmed her pregnancy in October when the Almeida Theatre's artistic director Michael Attenborough said Piper was concerned her expectant state would affect her run in the play Reasons To Be Pretty.

Piper and Fox, 33, are already parents to three-year-old Winston.

No doubt, Piper will be hoping for an easier birth to her second child.

She was in labour for 26 hours before undergoing an emergency caesarean delivery of Winston in October 2008.

And although the birth was difficult, Piper obviously hasn't been up.

In an interview with the Daily Mail in 2010, she said: 'Giving birth. I ended up having an emergency caesarean and I was quite ill afterwards.

'It really was epic, but I enjoyed the experience deeply. Having a child is such a profoundly emotional moment. It's a bit of a cliché, but it really is incredible how much the act of giving birth affects you.'

She also spoke of her joy at being a parent and her plans for three children.

She said: 'I think I am always happiest when I am spending time with Winston.

'I know it sounds so clichéd, but I really do love being a mum - it gives you an amazing sense of happiness.

'He is very wilful, though, and so I think we are going to have our hands full with him in the future.

She might be famous for her glamorous character Belle de Jour in Secret Diary of a Call Girl, but Billie Piper was sporting a very different look around London yesterday.

The 28-year-old stepped out to take care of some errands in the capital, but seemed to have forgotten to look in the mirror before embarking on the trip.

The dishevelled actress wore an oversized blazer, which she held tightly together while gripping onto a packet of cigarettes.


But despite her scruffy hair, Billie did decide to match her green nail varnish to her tobacco pouch.

The former Doctor Who star appeared to have left her two-year-old son Winston and husband Laurence Fox, 32, at home while she popped out.

The couple, who married in 2007, were last seen together two weeks ago at the Glorious Goodwood horse racing event.

Laurence is best known for playing Detective Sergeant James Hathaway in the British TV drama series Lewis.

She told the Hollywood Reporter: ‘I’m just trying to find a job. We’re back to the drawing board.

‘It’s frustrating, it’s tiring. It’s desperate. You slightly lose your mind. You have no confidence, then you have too much confidence.

‘It’s an endless frustration. That’s the nature of the beast. You have to suck it up and get on with it.’

She recently revealed that she has struggled to find work since the hit series Secret Diary of a Call Girl ended – so perhaps the stress has been affecting her sleep.

But Billie Piper was looking extremely sleepy and very much in need of her coffee as she popped into Starbucks yesterday.

The actress also showed off her toned legs in a pair of baggy denim shorts which she had teamed with a brown jumper.


And it seemed like Billie really had just woken up before she headed for her caffeine fix and she had scraped her hair up into a messy bun.

On her feet she had slipped on a pair of comfy looking leopard print loafers as she made her way to her car with her breakfast.

As she opened the car door to her Mini she balanced the second cup of coffee on top of the little car while she negotiated the other cup and the bag filled with breakfast.

While she has now finished playing call girl Belle du Jour in the hit ITV2 series, there is a possibility Billie will be working on a film version of the show with producers Stateside.

But, despite London's blustery weather today, Billie Piper and Fearne Cotton still managed to look sexy as they fell victim to the stronger-than-usual breeze.

While Billie's blonde locks ended up just looking tousled by the wind, Fearne ended up showing a little bit more leg than intended as the hem of her purple dress, one of her own range for online retailer Very.co.uk, was blown up as she arrived at the BBC Radio 1 studios in London.

But away from the small screen, actress Billie Piper has admitted that she is facing a 'desperate' battle to find work.

And she said the recession had made it even harder to land a role and she would consider upping sticks to the US to get work.


Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, Billie, 28, said: 'I'm just trying to find a job. We're back to the drawing board.

'It's frustrating, it's tiring. It's desperate. You slightly lose your mind. You have no confidence, then you have too much confidence.

'It's an endless frustration. That's the nature of the beast. You have to suck it up and get on with it.'

Billie recently finished her last ever series of Secret Diary of a Call Girl, in which she played escort Belle de Jour.

The successful ITV2 show ran from 2007 and the fourth and final series came to an end last month.

And it has just started in the US on the Showtime channel.

Billie is also well known for her role in Doctor Who as the Time Lord's assistant Rose Tyler, alongside David Tennant as the Doctor.

But Billie, who is married to actor Laurence Fox, 32, said she is now really struggling to land a new role.

And she said the credit crunch had put a halt to lavish spending on TV shows and said all the work was now in the US.

She said: 'Things are getting made a lot faster for less money and there are a lot fewer opportunities for actors.

'There's not a lot of work in the UK - that's why everyone's moving to America. It's where the work seems to be. But it definitely feels like a lot more of a slog to get a gig these days.

'I suppose that's a lot to do with our current climate and financial messes. People seem to have to work harder with a lot less time.

'And the subjects people are talking about, the stories they are wanting to tell - they have really changed too.

'There is a pool of work that is really, really thought-provoking and real. Then the extreme side is the enormous budgeted studio productions which are basically all made using a background green screen.'

And she added that she admired the way Americans made their TV shows and said: 'I like the way that if you're on a long-running show and you know it inside-out, you often have an option to produce or direct.

'If the right thing comes along and I get the opportunity to be cast in it, then I'd love to do that.'

With Spring well and truly here, Billie Piper was just one of dozens of parents who brought her children to enjoy the sunny day in Primrose Hill yesterday.

The actress, 28, and a few friends soaked up the sun in the North London park while her two-year-old son Winston picked daisies nearby.

Sat chatting to her pals while keeping a close eye on her child as he explored the park, she then jumped up and made a quick dash to catch him as he tried to waddle away.

After catching up with the toddler, she was thrilled when the blonde-haired boy gave her a clutch of daisies he had picked.

Clearly feeling warm in the balmy temperatures, little Winston was running around the park in a long-sleeved T-shirt and his nappy.

Meanwhile, his famous mother was going for the laid-back look in a navy maxi dress and leopard-print ballet pumps.

Missing out on the fun was Winston's father, actor Laurence Fox, star of crime drama Lewis.

Billie's day at the park came as she revealed she was struggling to find work following the recent climax of her Secret Diary Of A Call Girl show, which ended last month after four series.

In an interview with trade magazine Hollywood Reporter, she said: ''I'm just trying to find a job. We're back to the drawing board.

'It's frustrating, it's tiring. It's desperate. You slightly lose your mind. You have no confidence, then you have too much confidence.
