Mother's Day off: Orlando Bloom gives Miranda Kerr a break as he and a very smiley Flynn spend the day on the beach
By Georgina Littlejohn
Boys' day out: Orlando Bloom and his son Flynn run along the sand as they enjoy some quality time together on the beach in Wellington, New Zealand
Whether she is at work or play there's rarely a day that goes by without seeing Miranda Kerr with her adorable son Flynn attached to her hip.
But yesterday, while other mum's were being pampered and praised by their offspring on Mother's Day, the Australian model was given a much-needed day off instead.
As she relaxed and took it easy, her actor husband Orlando Bloom took their toddler son Flynn out with him for the day.
The boys headed to the beach in Wellington, New Zealand where the family is currently staying while Orlando films The Hobbit.
And 16-month-old Flynn looked like he was having a great time with his dad as he ran along the sand laughing his head off.

Catch me if you can! Flynn screamed in delight as he raced ahead of his father who struggled to catch up
Gotcha! Orlando managed to get a grip on his rambunctious boy as they headed away from the water
The boys enjoyed some quality time together running around and playing with a spade.
And Flynn looked ever so cute in his stripey trousers and top, and looked much more fashionable than his father.

Little digger: Flynn looked deep in concentration as he took a spade to the sand
Clean me up, daddy! Flynn held out a grubby hand to his father who examined it closely
Orlando, 35, had decided to venture out in dayglo green trousers - which revealed red underpants when he crouched down - which he teamed with a leather jacket and yellow trainers.
The boys looked thoroughly worn out after their day on the beach, and no doubt slept it off en route to Australia later that day.

Shall we head home to Mummy? Orlando crouches down to talk to his little lad....
... before they took one last look at the water
Flynn was back in his mother's arms as they left Orlando behind and boarded a plane to Sydney and were met at the airport by Miranda's mother Therese and grandmother Anne who instantly doted on their grandson.
Orlando is reprising his role as elf archer Legolas in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit.
Day off: While her boys were down on the beach, Miranda was enjoying some alone time
But he has not finished his filming just yet even though he is only in the film for less than two minutes.
Filming continues until July and Bloom is believed to have earned $1million for his brief appearance.

'Give ME the epidural!' Orlando Bloom struggled to deal with seeing me in pain during labour, reveals Miranda Kerr
By Andrea Magrath
Painful for some: Miranda Kerr has revealed that her husband Orlando Bloom asked if he could get an epidural during the birth of their son Flynn
For many soon-to-be fathers, watching their partners go through labour and feeling helpless is tormenting.
Miranda Kerr has revealed that her husband Orlando Bloom came up with a novel way for him to be able to deal with seeing her in so much pain during the birth of their baby Flynn.
As his wife had refused drugs, the actor suggested that he could perhaps have an epidural instead.
Big baby: Miranda says she didn't expect Flynn, who weighed in at over 10lbs, to be such a big baby and admits she was 'crazy' to go without an epidural
In a revealing interview with Australian television program Sunday Night, the supermodel discussed her previously revealed stance on having a natural birth.
'I had made the decision to not have any drugs, no epidural, nothing,' the 28-year-old said.
'Each to their own. I'm crazy for doing that! A lot of my friends who have had epidurals have said, "Oh (labour) was so great".'
Give me the drugs! The supermodel reveals that husband Orlando joked that he should be allowed to have the epidural as it pained him to see Miranda in turmoil
Asked if her resolve wavered at any point during the labour, she admitted: 'I remember looking at Orlando and saying "Oh honey."'
'And he said, "Give me the epidural! Seriously, if you don't want it I'll take it because right now I'm dying watching you go through this pain".'
'I didn't realise (Flynn) was going to be such a big baby.'
Not love at first sight: Miranda says it was Orlando's 'persistence' that finally won her over, and that she was reluctant to date a movie star
Miranda also revealed that it was not love at first sight when she met Orlando, 34.
'I think it was his persistence,' she said. 'Maybe he wanted me because he thought he couldn't have me.'
Asked if his movie star status put him off, she admitted: 'I was reluctant - not about him, but the idea of that (him being a movie star).'
It was during the Sunday Night interview that Miranda revealed the tragic inspiration behind Flynn's middle name.
Growing brood? She says she 'always thought I'd have three children,' but wants to focus on Flynn for now
Close to tears, the Australian model as she discussed her teenage boyfriend Christopher, who died in a car accident shortly after Miranda moved to Brisbane from their country town of Gunnedah.
Miranda said: 'He was my first love. We were young and we talked about everything; having kids and getting married.
'He died so instantly. It was quite a shock.
'I wrote him a letter after he died, saying I would name my first child after him and that is what I have done. 'Orlando was very kind and understanding. He said if you want, you can do that.'
