'Am I thin enough? Am I too thin?' Anne Hathaway opens up about her weight woes after shedding 25lbs for Les Misérables

By Daily Mail Reporter

She took on a complete physical transformation to play Fantine in Les Misérables.

But even after shedding 25lbs for the role, and despite being one of Hollywood's most in-demand actresses, Anne Hathaway admits she still has hang-ups about her weight.

The Oscar nominee, who covers the January issue of Glamour magazine, says being hyper-conscious about her body is 'an ongoing source of shame'.

All personality: Anne Hathaway poses for the January issue of Glamour magazine

The 30-year-old star is exuberant in an editorial for the women's lifestyle glossy.

Hide and seek: Anne struck a series of playful poses

But Anne admits she has trouble projecting the image of a confident star.

'I still feel the stress over "Am I thin enough? Am I too thin? Is my body the right shape?"' she admits of her insecurities.

'There's an obsessive quality to it that I thought I would've grown out of by now. It's an ongoing source of shame for me,' she explains.

Anne believes living in the spotlight is largely to blame.

'I just think about the ridicule you get if you have an off day,' she says.

'If people weren't watching, I'd be so much more eccentric. I know it makes me sound weak, but rather than make myself happy and wear the silly hat and say, "Oh, I don't care."

'I actually really don't feel like getting made fun of,' she says. 'So I put on something boring and navy and go out and try to disappear.'

The Dark Knight Rises actress, who wed actor Adam Shulman in September, also recalled how she was impacted by her 2008 split from ex-boyfriend Raffaello Follieri.

The Italian businessman, shortly after their break-up, pleaded guilty to wire fraud, money laundering and conspiracy, and was sentenced to four-and-a-half-years in prison.

'My trust had been betrayed quite massively,' she says.

Despite being blissfully in love, and having a career aspiring actresses dream of, Anne says she now realises there's 'no magic bullet' to make anyone happy - even if they seem to have it all.

And it's exactly that realisation that's been a source of contentment for the star since her honeymoon.

'I'm letting go of those expectations, and that's opening me up to moments of transcendent bliss,' she says.

Glamour’s January 2013 issue will be on newsstands nationwide on December 11.

Wedding bells! Anne Hathaway marries Adam Shulman in picturesque Big Sur ceremony

By Iona Kirby

Anne Hathaway has married Adam Shulman after a one year engagement.

Following reports on Friday that she was set to wed this weekend, the actress is understood to have tied the knot in Big Sur, California.

It comes following news that the Dark Knight Rises star had hired Natalie Portman’s wedding planner to help her hash out her perfect nuptials.

Wedding bells! Anne Hathaway marries Adam Shulman in picturesque Big Sur ceremony

The bride wore a dress designed by Valentino, after the designer recently confirmed he would be in charge of creating her gown, while the groom dressed in a dapper tuxedo.

Anne certainly made for a beautiful bride in her off-the-shoulder, vintage inspired creation, which she teamed with white shoes and an elaborate but gorgeous veil.

Speaking recently, Valentino Garavani confirmed he had designed the gown that would be worn by the Les Miserables beauty.

Blushing bride: Anne looked stunning as she enjoyed the great outdoors with her new husband

Made for each other: The couple clearly can't wait to spend the rest of their lives together

Fairytale wedding: The newlyweds couldn't take their eyes - or hands - off each other

According to People.com, the 29-year-old said ‘I do’ with her actor beau in a ceremony attended by 100 guests.

Friday night saw the rehearsal dinner which took place at the Ventana Inn and Spa, which was followed by the star walking up the aisle on a private estate.

A minibus was seen collecting the guests from the luxury hotel to take them to the ceremony.

The décor of the big day was reportedly inspired by nature and featured lots of branches at both the ceremony and reception.

Lots to smile about: It was clear the pair were having an incredibly happy day

And the bride wore Valentino: Anne wore a vintage style wedding dress designed by Valentino

Ahead of the nuptials it was reported that the wedding would be a traditional Jewish affair – just like Natalie Portman’s wedding to Benjamin Millipied – which also took place in Big Sur.

Running alongside the Pacific Coast Highway, Big Sur, famous for its links to the Beat poets, is a sparsely populated town where the Santa Lucia Mountains rise from the Pacific Ocean.

Anne had originally claimed the wedding would not take place until 2013 because of her work commitments.

She told Hello magazine: 'We're getting married, probably sometime next year-ish. Not this year, it’s too big with two films coming out.

Sealed with a kiss: Carrying a stunning bouquet, Anne leaned in for a kiss with her new husband

Watch your step: In her beautiful dress it wasn't easy for Anne to negotiate the outdoor terrain

That's the bridesmaids' job!: Adam, who sported a suave suit, helped Anne out with her train

'I haven't started planning yet. I was filming Les Mis when we decided to do it, and there was no way I could think about anything wedding-related with my head in the space it was in then.

'I've been so busy since then, I've not even decided what sort of ceremony I want.'

Anne Hathaway reveals her slender beach body after losing weight for prostitute role in Les Miserables

By Daily Mail Reporter

Beach break: Anne Hathaway soaked up the sun in Miami today

She was forced to lose weight to play the role of dying prostitute Fantine in the movie adaptation of Les Miserables.

And today the actress revealed the results of her strict eating regime while relaxing in Miami.

The 29-year-old slipped her slender frame into a black bikini for a trip to the beach with her mother Kate and a group of friends.

Short and sweet: Anne recently cut her long locks for her new film role

Anne is in the city for Italian designer Valentino's 80th birthday.

She appeared self-conscious of her whittled down shape, quickly covering up in a grey T-shirt after emerging from the water.

At one point the star, who is engaged to actor-jewellry designer Adam Shulman, was spotted chatting to a long-haired male as she swam in the ocean.

VIP treatment: Anne's mother Kate brought a towel to the star as she emerged from the sea

It is believed that Anne has lost around 16lbs in just three weeks before filming began in London last month.

She is rumoured to have consumed just 500 calories a day - significantly less than the recommended daily allowance of 2,000 calories a day.

She also cut her once-lustrous long brown hair into a blunt crop for the part.

The star certainly appears more curvaceous in the upcoming film The Dark Knight Rises, which will be released later this year.

Anne will tackle the formidable Catwoman character in the forthcoming Christopher Nolan-directed movie.

She recently received the seal of approval from former Catwoman, Michelle Pfeiffer, who told Empire magazine: 'I think she's great. I'm actually very much looking forward to seeing her in that role.

Fun with friends: The Catwoman actress enjoyed a giggle with girlfriends

Bathing beauty: The star attracted male attention during her swim

'I'm a big fan of hers and I think she has everything you need for that role. She has the humour, she can go to dark places, she's obviously very talented.

'I think she's going to be really good.'

Although Michelle loved playing Catwoman in the Tim Burton directed movie, she isn't protective over the role.

Doting parent: The star's mother was also spotted combing Anne's short crop

'I would have loved to have done it but I know that's not what the franchise is really about now.'

Michelle is a huge fan of Nolan's take on the franchise saying, 'I love it. It's very different to Tim's but I'm a fan.'

Anne Waste-away: Actress displays drastic weight loss on set of Les Miserables with Hugh Jackman

By Sarah Bull

Anne Waste-away: Ms Hathaway displayed the results of her drastic Les Miserables diet on the London set of the movie with Hugh Jackman today

It was reported earlier this year that Anne Hathaway had embarked on a strict crash diet in a bit to lose weight to play the role of dying prostitute Fantine in the movie adaptation of Les Miserables.

And today the 29-year-old actress displayed the results of the regime, which saw her consuming just 500 calories a day - significantly less than the recommended daily allowance of 2,000 calories a day - as she shot scenes for the movie alongside Hugh Jackman in London.

Anne was seen wearing a pale lilac short-sleeved dress as she shot the scenes on the balcony location, standing next to Jackman - who sported unruly grey hair for his part.

Transformation: As well as having lost around 16lbs for the role, Anne has also chopped off her long brown hair

The actress' once-lustrous long brown hair had also been replaced by a blunt crop, necessary for the role of the hungry, dying prostitute.

It is believed that Anne has lost around 16lbs in just three weeks in preparation for the beginning of shooting.

A source told the Daily Mirror earlier this month: 'Anne is playing a destitute factory worker-come-lady of the night.

Adaptation: Both Anne and Hugh are required to sing for their roles in the film

Giggles all round: The pair looked in good spirits as they shot scenes in cold London

'Unfortunately, she only has 15 to 20 days to lose as much weight as possible - up to a stone-and-a-half - because she’s been filming the scenes showing her fit and healthy, almost slightly chubby.

'It’s not ideal but, as with any high-budget movie, there are strict time constraints.

'Producers have assigned her a personal trainer and she is literally eating nothing more than a couple of apples a day, and some protein – mainly in the form of a shake.'

Impressive setting: The scenes were filmed at the picturesque Greenwich Maritime College

Props: The set featured piles and piles of boxes with extras clambering over the top

However, producers are said to be making sure doctors keep a close eye on the actress during the short-term diet.

Meanwhile, in the movie Hugh is playing Jean Valjean, a poor man on the run from the police after he was released from prison after a 19 year stretch for stealing bread for his family.

He is being pursued by Russell Crowe's Inspector Javert, who released Valjean on parole, but then later decided to dedicate his life to imprisoning him again.

Feeling chilly? In between takes, Anne grimaced in the cold as she covered up in a black jacket

The film also stars Irish tenor Colm Wilkinson, who appears as the Bishop of Digne and was the original Jean Valjean in the West End and Broadway musical productions.

And it has quite the stellar cast as well as Jackman and Crowe, with Eddie Redmayne as Marius Pontmercy, Amanda Seyfried as Cosette, Sacha Baron Cohen as Thénardier, and Helena Bonham Carter as Madame Thénardier.

Hair we go! Anne Hathaway lops her flowing brunette locks into a choppy short style for Les Miserables role

By Leah Simpson

She’s admitted to cutting her daily food intake down to only 500 calories for her latest film role but that’s not the only extreme Anne Hathaway is having to go through.

The actress who usually flaunts a thick mane of long brunette locks has trimmed her hair to barely one inch in length, in order to achieve the look of her character in the forthcoming movie, Les Miserables.

The 29-year-old was pictured leaving London’s The Box nightclub in the early hours of Sunday morning with the newly cropped do.

London calling: Anne Hathaway was spotted with a short back and sides haircut leaving the well known Box club in Soho

Pretty Hathaway looked especially gaunt as she left the venue with fiancé Adam Shulman and their friends.

As they hopped into a taxi she tried to conceal her fresh crop from onlookers who took a while to catch on to her identity.

Grabbing her head as she made her way home, she is evidently still getting used to her short style.

All change: Hathaway normally flaunts a mane of flowing brunette locks

Wearing a dark coat and blue jeans, as expected she appeared noticeably slimmer than usual as she has embarked on a hardcore diet for her part in the film.

She plays Fantine, a struggling factory worker who is forced into prostitution to provide for her illegitimate child and ends up selling her hair for financial gain.

A film source told the Daily Mirror: 'Anne is playing a destitute factory worker-come-lady of the night.

On the town: The star left the popular nightclub with friends

So in love: She was also spending time on the capital city with her partner Adam Shulman

Serious about her craft: The actress will play the role of Fantine in Les Miserables, who sells her hair for money

'Unfortunately, she only has 15 to 20 days to lose as much weight as possible - up to a stone-and-a-half - because she’s been filming the scenes showing her fit and healthy, almost slightly chubby.

'It’s not ideal but, as with any high-budget movie, there are strict time constraints.'

The star looked a far cry from the glamorous situations we are used to seeing her in but for Anne the dramatic decision was all for the greater good.

While many stars opt to don a hairpiece to save their precious tresses, Anne was clearly determined to be as authentic as possible for the musical motion picture.

Tough stuff: She has also gone on a 500 calorie per day diet for the motion picture

Too pretty, and she can’t speak Yorkshire: Fans hit out at Anne Hathaway's accent in new film

By Chris Hastings

Yorkshire lass: Anne Hathaway as Emma Morley in the film One Day

She was criticised for being just too pretty to take the lead role in the film version of the bestselling book One Day – now fans say Anne Hathaway’s Yorkshire accent is ‘horrible’.

The American star’s attempts at Northern tones as the character Emma Morley have also been called ‘awkward’ and ‘uncomfortable’.

A fan calling herself Britishchick wrote on one website: ‘Not good at all!!!! Totally inconsistent! Why not get an actual English woman in the role.’ Another simply added: ‘Love the book. Hate Anne’s accent.’

One Day, which will be released on August 19, is among the most eagerly awaited films of the year. Based on the runaway bestseller by David Nicholls, the film charts the ever-changing on-off relationship between Morley, a working-class girl from Yorkshire, and wealthy Dexter Mayhew, played by Jim Sturgess.

The couple first meet while students at Edinburgh University and the book catches up with them on the same day each year – July 15 – over the ensuing two decades.

Experts believe the movie will be one of the biggest hits of the year thanks to the success of the novel, which has sold more than 860,000 copies in the UK alone.

But some fans remain unconvinced about the casting of The Devil Wears Prada star in the pivotal role – indeed, originally some thought she was ‘too pretty’ to play the part of the fast-food waitress who becomes a comprehensive school teacher.

Later, the 28-year-old actress from Brooklyn, New York, admitted she was apprehensive about getting the voice right. She said: ‘I was very nervous about the Yorkshire accent.’

Now the film’s trailer has confirmed the fans’ worst fears.

One wrote: ‘There’s nothing Yorkshire about Anne Hathaway’s accent.’ Another added: ‘It sounds a generic posh English accent.’

But a film critic who has already seen the movie said that fans should not judge it by the trailer.

The reviewer said: ‘Anne has a go at the Yorkshire accent. Her attempt has its high points and its low points. But to be honest it didn’t worry me. I thought the film was a very good and a very faithful adaptation.’

The cat's back! First official picture of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises released

By SARAH BULL and MIKE LARKIN

Going hell for leather: The first official photo of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises has now been released

Batman bosses have kept fans guessing with how Anne Hathaway is going to portray Catwoman in upcoming movie The Dark Knight Rises.

And now, with the first official photo of the actress in character, it seems Catwoman is going to be tougher than ever in the sequel.

While Hathaway's outfit can't really be seen, it appears the 28-year-old actress is wearing a black leather catsuit, with a zip up the front, teamed with a pair of black goggles and lashings of red lipstick.

Don't mess with her: Anne looks like a lean mean machine as she rides a futuristic motorbike

The shot shows Catwoman on a motorbike, which looks very similar to the one owned by Batman in the last film, The Dark Knight Rises.

Very little information has been revealed about the storyline of the new film, in which Hathaway stars as Selina Kyle, also known as Catwoman.

However, a source recently told Hollywoodlife.com of Anne's Catwoman costume: 'Anne's outfit is more tactical, like the comic book, than the previous Batman movies.

Heads down: Bodies fall to the floor as Anne whizzes around on her extraordinary vehicle

Previous incarnations: Halle Berry as Catwoman in the 2004 film and Michelle Pfeiffer in the role in 1992 movie Batman Returns

'She will definitely be wearing the goggles, and it's going to be less sexy than Halle Berry and Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman costumes. She's going to look more like a robber.'

Hathaway was yesterday spotted on the set of the new film, showing off her legs in a pair of tiny black shorts.

Anne, who was wearing heavy make-up, chatted with a member of the production staff while she stretched her legs during a spot of down time.

Clawfully good-looking: Hathaway showed off the wonderful form that landed her the part of Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises during filming in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Caught in the act: Marion Cotillard is snapped as she takes part in a scene for the upcoming film

Prepations: A stuntman was seen on Catwoman's bike on the set earlier in the day

Although the ladies on set provided the glamour, it was the stunt men who generated the excitement.

One was seen shooting down a set of stairs in a exotically-designed motorbike during one of the more thrilling moments of the day.

The Dark Knight Rises also stars Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine and is set to be released in July 2012.
