Anne Hathaway on '500 calories a day crash diet' to slim down for Les Misérables role

By Emily Sheridan

Crash diet: Anne Hathaway, pictured at the London premiere of One Day last year, is losing weight for Les Miserables

Anne Hathaway is having to resort to a drastic diet to lose weight to play her latest role.

The actress, 29, has been ordered to lose 16lbs in less than three weeks to play dying prostitute Fantine in the movie adaptation of Les Miserables.

As fans of the musical classic will know, the single mother ends up with consumption and later appears as a ghost.

Although currently a healthy size 10, Hathaway will have to lose over a stone for her realistic portrayal of a hungry, dying prostitute.

Instead of eating the recommended daily allowance of 2,000 calories a day, the actress is now down to under 500 to achieve the rapid result.

A film source told the Daily Mirror: 'Anne is playing a destitute factory worker-come-lady of the night.

'Unfortunately, she only has 15 to 20 days to lose as much weight as possible - up to a stone-and-a-half - because she’s been filming the scenes showing her fit and healthy, almost slightly chubby.

'It’s not ideal but, as with any high-budget movie, there are strict time constraints.

Method: Hathaway previously lost weight to play Andrea Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada

'Producers have assigned her a personal trainer and she is literally eating nothing more than a couple of apples a day, and some protein – mainly in the form of a shake.'

However, producers are making sure doctors keep a close eye on the actress during the short-term diet.

Hathaway is no stranger to having to lose weight for roles.

Last year, she slimmed down to fit into an unforgiving catsuit to play Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises.

She started doing Bikram yoga and push-ups and eating vegetables, fish and fruit to shape down.

She also lost weight to play Andrea Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada.

The Les Miserables movie, which also stars Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Eddie Redmayne and Amanda Seyfried, is due to release in December.

Isn't it time to put your feet up now? Heavily pregnant Stacey Solomon looks tired on night out

By Kimberley Dadds

Glamorous mum-to-be: Stacey Solomon showed off her bump as she attended the Tatiana Hair Extensions store launch party in London

She looked glamorous enough, but her flawless make-up couldn't hide the tiredness around Stacey Solomon's eyes.

The former X Factor contestant, 22, has only got about six weeks to go before she's due to give birth to her second child.

But as a mother of one to son Zachary, four, the singer turned TV presenter, she's probably still quite run off her feet.

Blue-ming: The singer got her own hair extensions from the salon earlier this month and debuted the look on her night out

However, no one could blame her for making the most of her time before she's knee deep in nappies again.

The former X Factor star was on hand to celebrate the launch party for Tatiana Hair Extensions' new store in London last night.

And she took the opportunity to show off her bump in a floor-length navy blue frock with a beige stripe below her bust.

Blooming: The singer got her own hair extensions from the salon earlier this month and debuted the look on her night out

Stacey matched the dress with a pair of beige Terry De Havilland snakeskin wedges, while she gave it a splash of colour with red painted toes and a splash of scarlet lipstick.

And she also made the most of the sunny weather in the city by making it a summery get-up with sunglasses on her head.

She was obviously excited about going out for the evening, as she wrote on Twitter earlier in the day: 'Excited about @TatianaHairExts launch today !! Xxx.'

Stacey showed her fashion sense as she posed for the cameras by completing the outfit with a matching beige leather bag.

The singer opened up earlier this month about how she wants to look her 'very best' ready for the impending arrival.

To start her beauty regime the expectant mother visited Tatiana Hair Extensions to undergo a transformation with long blonde locks.

And it ensured she was a guest of honour at their party, where she showed off the new look as she wore her hair down and poker straight as she posed with the owner, Tatiana Karelina.

Making the most of it: Stacey, who is almost eight months pregnant, enjoyed a night out ahead of the impending birth

Speaking about her new look, the 22-year-old said: 'With the birth of my baby fast approaching, I wanted a new look ready for spring.

'I have decided to go with some flashes of honey blended into my natural hair colour for a fresh finish similar to Jennifer Aniston.

'I want to look my very best at the birth! I love the way the hair colour makes me look slightly suntanned as well.'

And her appearance was a hit with owner Tatiana, who wrote on Twitter this morning: '@Denisepdavies so blessed to have such amazing friends around! Thank you so much sweetie! You and @5taceySolomon made the party!! Xx.'

Stacey replied: '@TatianaHairExts my pleasure had a great time and got a great big bag of pick-a-mix me and bump were very happy hahaha!!! Xxxx.'

Back from the dead: Fabrice Muamba tweets miracle first picture of himself 13 days after his heart stopped for 78 minutes

-Footballer says thank you to millions of fans who have supported him
-Student who posted racists Tweet loses appeal to be released early from jail

By Rick Dewsbury

It's the picture the world has been waiting to see.

Fabrice Muamba sits up his hospital bed wearing a wide smile almost two weeks after collapsing mid-way through a match.

The footballer's fiance Shauna Magunda posted the heart-warming image earlier today to say thank you to the millions of fans who have supported her partner after he suffered a near fatal heart attack.

It shows the Bolton FC star wearing a blue hooded sports top and lying back in his hospital bed. His smile shows the miraculous recovery he has made since the game on March 17.

Heart-warming: Fabrice Muamba sits up smiling in his hospital bed today almost two weeks after collapsing midway through a football match

Ms Magunda wrote alongside the image: 'Fab wanted me to post this pic for you all and to also say thank you for such overwhelming support.'

The picture attracted a string of emotional responses from fans on the social networking site.

One wrote: 'God bless you Fabrice. You keep on fighting, son. Get well soon.'

Muamba's heart stopped for 78 minutes as paramedics - including a cardiologist who leapt onto the pitch from the stands - battled to keep the player alive.

He was rushed to the London Chest Hospital, where he was visited by his Bolton team-mates and a string of football friends.

It was later revealed that 15 defibrillator shocks were administered before the sportsman began to show signs of life.

The incident stunned the football community and heralded a worldwide outpouring of sympathy for the 23-year-old player as his family urged fans to prey for him.

The picture will delight the legions of football supporters who have followed the plight of the youngster. He is likely to undergo a long rehabilitation before he can come close to playing again.

Meanwhile, a student who mocked the footballer on Twitter after he collapsed today lost his appeal against a 56-day jail term.

Liam Stacey, 21, of Pontypridd, south Wales, sobbed as he was taken away following the failed sentence appeal hearing at Swansea Crown Court.

'God is in control': Shauna Magunda, right, Fabrice Muamba's fiancee urged her Twitter followers to keep the Bolton player in their prayers as he fights for life

Mr Justice Wyn Williams told him he rejected an argument that Stacey had already been punished enough. He said the Swansea University biology student had admitted an offence, racially aggravated public disorder, of intent.

'He was intending to say what he said and was intending to produce the effect that he did.'

The court heard Stacey has been treated as a 'pariah' by other prisoners since he was locked up.

High Court Judge Mr Justice Wyn Williams told him: 'There can be no avoiding the conclusion that your offence was committed in the context of a grave illness that had afflicted Fabrice Muamba.

'It was immediately apparent that he was gravely ill and while he was lying prostrate on the pitch you posted comments that were extremely racist couched in terms that can only be described as extremely offensive.

'What was written was capable of being read by any user of Twitter and these messages provoked a very strong response.

'You received responses which were extremely critical but you did not desist - instead you posted eight messages which were extremely abusive and insulting.

'You later realised the enormity of your behaviour and tried to apologise. But you deserve to be punished for your actions. It can’t be argued that a term of 56 days is too long for this offence.

'By pleading guilty you admitted a racist intent to your comments.'

Shame: Liam Stacey is led away in handcuffs outside Swansea Magistrates Court

Stacey was watching the FA cup match between Spurs and Bolton Wanderers on TV when Muamba fell to the ground.

Earlier he had been drinking while watching Wales win the rugby Grand Slam match against France.

Stacey Tweeted: “LOL, F*** Muamba. He’s dead!!! £haha,” - then posted eight further offensive racist messages.

Stacey was jailed for 56 days on Tuesday after admitting racially aggravated harassment and disorder.

The reviled tweet came at a time when the Bolton midfielder's plight was attracting a wave of sympathy around the world.

Football fans watched in horror as Muamba collapsed after suffering a heart attack during the FA Cup clash.

Millions witnessed the incident at White Hart Lane as Bolton's clash with home team Tottenham Hotspur was screened live on television.

But after a drunken Stacey received a deluge critical replies to his distasteful tweet, he responded with a torrent of racist abuse on the website.

Support for Stacey’s jail sentence was widespread on the day it was handed down, and widely debated on Twitter.

But a significant minority criticised his punishment and claimed it was politically motivated to make an example of him.

His legal team will tomorrow launch an appeal against his sentence at Swansea Crown Court.

The hearing, which is expected to last at least one hour, will go before High Court judge Mr Justice Wyn Williams.

The messages were forwarded to the police by several members of the social network, including former England striker Stan Collymore, himself a victim of abuse on Twitter.

Stacey initially claimed his account had been accessed by somebody else, but later pleaded guilty to racially aggravated harassment, and was sent to prison to ‘reflect the public outrage’ at his comments.

As he spent his first night behind bars, the two teams replayed the fixture that was called off when the midfielder came close to death.

Tottenham and Bolton met again at White Hart Lane, with the home team cruising to a 3-1 victory.

It means Muamba's club are now out of the FA Cup, but this hardly seemed to matter to the fans and players treating the match as a chance to pay tribute to him.

Team-mate Sam Ricketts was seen to wipe a tear from his eye before kick-off. It was a difficult return for the entire Bolton squad, and manager Owen Coyle commended them for their bravery.

Players from both sides wore T-shirts bearing messages of thanks to those who supported Muamba, while the whole of the Tottenham stadium erupted in applause for him.

Stacey, meanwhile, faces expulsion from Swansea University. The third-year biology student had hoped to become a forensic scientist. Describing his tweets, prosecutor Louise Barron told the court: ‘The offence is clearly racially aggravated.

‘There was sustained and gratuitous racism. These were unprovoked comments and persistent abuse. The recipients were disgusted.’

Jailing the student at Swansea Magistrates’ Court, District Judge John Charles said: ‘Not just the footballer’s family, not just the footballing world, but the whole world were literally praying for Muamba’s life. Your comments aggravated this situation.

‘I have no choice but to impose an immediate custodial sentence to reflect the public outrage at what you have done.’

Stacey, seen arriving at the court earlier in the morning, posted a series of vile tweets about footballer Fabrice Muamba

Applause: Rival players join in the applause for Muamba after seeing him collapse on the pitch almost two weeks ago

Stacey made his comments about the Bolton midfielder while celebrating the Welsh rugby team’s Six Nations grand slam victory earlier this month.

The judge added: ‘You committed this offence while you were drunk and it is clear you immediately regretted it.

'But you must learn how to handle your alcohol better.’

Stacey, from Pontypridd, South Wales, told police following his arrest at his student home in Swansea: ‘I was at the bar when I heard what had happened to Muamba.

'I don’t know why I posted [the comments]. I’m not racist and some of my friends are from different cultural backgrounds.’

He later sent a text message to a friend saying: ‘I said something about Muamba that I shouldn’t have and tweeted back to some people who abused me.

'Getting police on me now which isn’t good at all.’

Solidarity: Bolton's Nigel Reo-Coker (left) and Tottenham's Jermain Defoe shake hands

Upsetting: Fabrice Muamba is treated by medical staff after collapsing. Liam Stacey, 21, posted mocking tweets as the midfielder was treated on the pitch

Another read: ‘Been bawling my eyes out on the phone to my mother for the last hour, really can’t be dealing with this.’

Gareth Jones, defending, said Stacey ‘does not bear [Muamba] any grudge and is glad he is making a good recovery’.

He continued: ‘My client simply lost his head and posted these disgusting comments to the bitter shame of himself and his parents.

'For a moment of madness, his career has now gone.’

Stacey’s father Neale, 49, and mother Hayley, 46, were visibly shocked when the details of his comments were read aloud yesterday.

Jim Brisbane, chief crown prosecutor for CPS Cymru-Wales, said: ‘Racist language is inappropriate in any setting and through any media.

'We hope this case will serve as a warning to anyone who may think that comments made online are somehow beyond the law.’

Abbey Crouch shows off her tiny size 6 figure in a monochrome bikini as she dotes on Sophia in Dubai

By Emily Sheridan

Statuesque: The 5ft 9 model regained her Size 6 figure just weeks after giving birth to Sophia last year

With her husband busy as a full-time footballer, Abbey Crouch doesn't get much of an opportunity for a family holiday.

So the Liverpudlian model has left Peter at home in England as she whisked their one-year-old daughter Sophia away to Dubai for a pre-Easter break.

And on arrival in the Middle East, the 25-year-old WAG couldn't wait to hit the beach.

Looking toned and tanned, Abbey flaunted her size 6 figure in a £178 Vix Betsey monochrome bikini.

Walking in the sea, the model doted on her daughter, who looked adorable in a flora, frilly bikini and headscarf to protect her little head from the hot sun.

At one point, little Sophia decided she would prefer to wear her mother's pink hat instead, providing much entertainment for the giggling mother.

Wheeeee! Abbey holds her daughter in the air

'Mummy, I want that hat': Despite wearing a headscarf, her mother's pink hat soon attracts Sophia's eye

With husband Peter, 31, back in England due to his footballing commitments with Stoke City, Abbey has been staying at the luxury five-star Grosvenor House Hotel.

The trip marks her second visit to the hotel after she brought her mother Karen over for the opening last November.

No doubt Mrs Crouch will be staying in a luxury suite at the hotel, where rooms range in price from £200 to £400 a night.

Mwah! The Liverpudlian plants a kiss on her daughter

This latest trip marks Abbey's fifth holiday since becoming a mother to little Sophia on March 14 last year.

Last September, they enjoyed a family holiday to the Italian island of Capri and a honeymoon in Ibiza.

The family also had a pre-wedding break in Sardinia - where they visit every year - just days before their lavish wedding in Leicestershire.

By Georgina Littlejohn and Andrea Magrath

Out without baby: Una Healy and fiancé Ben Foden were pictured out and about in the sunshine today without their newborn daughter Aoife Belle

She gave birth just over two weeks ago, but Una Healy has already bounced back at incredible speed.

The singer, 30, showed off a slim post-baby figure as she strolled in the sunshine with fiancé Ben Foden, 26, today.

The couple were enjoying a rare moment of alone time as they picked up paperwork, possibly to do with registering their daughter's birth, from Dunstable town hall in Bedfordshire.

The Saturdays star wore a yellow and grey zip-up top over leggings and made the most of the spring sunshine by going without a jacket.

Una and Ben held hands and wrapped their arms around each other lovingly as they ran their errands.

Yesterday, Una stepped out for the first time with the couple's daughter Aoife Belle since welcoming the baby on March 13.

Loved up: The couple looked to be enjoying a rare moment alone to enjoy each other's company

The Irish beauty was looking gorgeous in a red summer dress that also showed that most of her pregnancy weight has already disappeared.

Onlookers said she looked a little nervous as she headed into a park near her Bedfordshire home with her mother Anne at her side.

But they added that after a few minutes, Una started to relax in the sun and enjoy the walk as she and her mother soaked up the sunshine.

A fresh-faced Sarah Jessica Parker perfects the art of minimal make-up with a small splash of colour

By Georgina Littlejohn

She's always snapped dashing around New York with her twins looking fresh-faced, not having time to even brush on some mascara.

But today Sarah Jessica Parker must have had a bit more time on her hands as she left her home with some make-up on.

However, she has clearly managed to perfect the art of making it look minimal as you really had to look closely to notice that she was wearing any at all.

Not so fresh-faced: Sarah Jessica Parker managed to pull off the art of minimal make-up as she left her New York home

The actress, 47, was seen leaving her apartment in Manhattan in very casual attire, wearing jeans and a plain grey long-sleeved top.

But she had made an effort with her face as a splash of grey/blue eyeshadow could be seen on her lids and a smudge of pink blush on her cheeks.

It wasn't clear where she was going but there was a car waiting for her suggesting she was off to do some work.

Casual: Despite her dressed-down look, SJP's eyeshadow could be seen on her pretty blue peepers

She's certainly looking good for her age, having turned 47 this week.

But recently she admitted to Elle magazine that she is noticing changes due to her advancing years more than ever.

She said: 'I don't know what I can do about the aging. Yes, I am aging.

Splash of colour: A hint of blush could be seen on Sarah's face as she left her home

In a rush: SJP looked miles away as she headed to a waiting car

'Oh my God, I'm aging all the time. It's like those flowers that wilt in front of you in time-lapse films.

'But what can I possibly do? Look like a lunatic?'

'I loved you so much but you never gave a f***, so screw you': No prizes for guessing who Cheryl Cole's new song is about

By Andrea Magrath

Bitter lyrics: Cheryl Cole is believed to have hit out at her ex-husband in a new song called Screw You

Despite divorcing in September 2010, Cheryl Cole is rumoured to have remained in close contact with her ex-husband Ashley, who she has admitted that she will 'always love.'

But it appears that the singer, 28, may have finally gotten over her lingering affection for the love rat - and hit out at him in a song on her upcoming album.

Lyrics from a song entitled 'Screw You' have been published in The Sun, and are believed to be directed at the 31-year-old Chelsea player.

In the expletive-heavy song, Cheryl rants: 'Can't believe all the s*** I did for you, was so caught up in the love I felt for ya.

'I was never enough, I never got your love.

'I loved you so much but you never gave a f*** so screw you.

'I can still remember our first date, never thought I would scream "I hate ya".'

Cole's last album Messy Little Raindrops was released in November 2010, just two months after she was granted a divorce from Ashley.

Despite expectations, it did not contain references to her dramatic love life.

However at the time Cheryl is believed to have been still considering a reconciliation with the man who cheated on her numerous times, and had only divorced him because of public pressure.

She said during an interview at the time with Piers Morgan: 'Once we get over this obstacle, I hope we can be friends again. A part of me will always love Ashley.'

Love rat: The footballer was pictured out at Aura nightclub in London last night

And she invited the sportsman to her birthday party in June last year, where they are claimed to have been spotted canoodling.

As recently as January, it was alleged that the pair spoke on the phone 'every day' as Cheryl continued to lean on her ex for support following the humiliation of being dumped from X Factor USA.

But after spending much of the past six months in Los Angeles where she has been busy recording her third solo album, Cheryl appears to have a new and fresh outlook - and is confident enough to publicly shame her ex for what he did to her.

A spokesperson for Cheryl declined to comment when contacted by Mail Online.

'Get outta my pub!': EastEnders bosses REFUSE to pay for star's leaving do... because she is two months shy of five years

By Lucy Buckland

Cheryl Fergison was devastated when EastEnders bosses broke the news her character Heather Trott was for the chop.

And in a final BBC farewell 'petty' producers told the 46-year-old they would not be coughing up for her leaving do, as she was eight weeks shy of completing the mandatory five years for a free knees-up.

Instead of a warm farewell down the local boozer bosses told the loveable actress to pay for her own leaving do or not have one at all.

Pay for your own: Cheryl Fergison was just two months shy of getting a traditional Walford send-off

Cast members have accused BBC producers of being petty for not digging into their own pockets, especially as the actress was devastated she was axed.

But Cheryl's ending turned out happy in the end as her colleagues clubbed together to give her a bash.

One insider told the Daily Mirror: 'Cheryl was weeks away from the five-year point and it just smacks of pettiness.

'People feel she was shoddily treated. She was well loved and upset at being killed off so many thought it was the last thing they could have done.'

Final moments: Cheryl as she was last seen in character as Heather before she ducked out of the show

Speaking of the party two months ago, Cheryl said: 'I did my final scene and the studio filled with people. It was incredible, the number who came to say goodbye.'

The news the actress was to be axed came just as she found out she would be reunited with

Moroccan husband Yassine El-Jamouni after he had been finally granted a visa to live in Britain.

She told Best magazine: 'It was a bittersweet day. What you get with one hand, you get taken away with another! When they told me Heather was for the chop, (the boss) had to get me a tissue.

'Sometimes a character is sacrificed to make other stories work. I get it. I knew it was going to come but it was still a shock.'

Drinks are off: In The Queen Vic of the soap bosses often show traditional knees-ups but actress Cheryl Fergison had to pay for her own drinks

Cheryl explained that she was able to hold it together during filming of her last scenes but she crumbled when it came to clearing out her dressing room.

She said: 'There were lots of tears and I was scared about the future. I’ve turned down a couple of things I didn’t think were quite right for me.

An EastEnders spokesperson told the MailOnline: 'There is absolutely no truth that Cheryl moaned to bosses about not having a leaving party paid for by the production.

'Although we always try to give a good send off for any actors that have been with the show for a significant amount of time, EastEnders and the cast would not ever expect this to be paid for by the licence fee.'

Cheryl added: 'At no point have I ever complained to the bosses.'
