Girl Power! The Spice Girls send their congratulations as Mel B gives birth to her THIRD daughter

After being admitted to hospital last night and giving birth in the early hours of this morning, Spice Girl Mel B could not wait to tell Twitter followers that she had welcomed her third daughter into the world.

And her bandmates were equally eager to let Mel know how proud they were of the announcement.

Mel, 36, amazingly managed to log on to her Twitter profile within hours of the birth and updated followers with the message: 'Finally our baby arrives, Stephen nearly passed out, Phoenix screamed, I laughed so hard the baby popped out!!! She is just sooo amazing!!'

Emma Bunton was the first to congratulate Mel shortly after her post and responded with the message: 'Yeah!!! Well done Mummy! Lots of love. Xxx'

Next to take to the social networking site to share their joy was Mel C, who updated her own page with a message to let everyone know just how proud she was of her friend.

Mel C hinted that she was happy her bandmate had brought yet another Spice Girl into the world, and posted: 'So so happy for my dear friend @OfficialMelB and @stephenthinks1 another girl #girlpower woo hoo! Congratulations x x x'

Victoria Beckham, on the other hand, is unlikely to have heard the happy news as she does not appear to have visited the site today.

But Mel has been overwhelmed with messages of congratulations and in order to show her appreciation logged onto the site again a few hours later to give thanks to her friends and fans who were wishing her well.

She gushed: 'I wanna thank you ALL for your beautiful well wishes,it means a lot to me,you guys are the best,I am SOOOOOO blessed my heart is melting!!'

Mel even sent a thank you tweet to her husband. She wrote: 'I didn't think it was possible but I love you even MORE now honey,we have a truly amazing family xxxx'
Ronan Keating was among the first to send the proud new mother a congratulatory message.

He tweeted at her to say: '@OfficialMelB Congrats So happy for ya All , See ya soon In Oz for #xfactorau'

She has also received messages from Kim Kardashian, Denise Richards and Serena Williams.

The former Spice Girl and her husband Stephen Belafonte welcomed their first child together at around 5am at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.

Mel's publicist confirmed: 'This evening Melanie Brown and husband Stephen Belafonte welcomed their new baby girl in Los Angeles.

'This is the first child for Mel and Stephen and both mum and baby are happy, healthy and doing well.'

As yet there is no news on a name or weight for the new addition to the Brown-Belafonte clan, but of course there are two older sisters – Phoenix Chi, 12, and Angel, four – waiting to meet her.

Earlier this week Mel revealed she had tried everything from spicy foods to sex in a desperate attempt to induce labour.

'Ideally I want it to come naturally,' continued Mel B.

'But I've tried everything, I've tried the hot food, the running, the sex, the violence, I've tried it all. It just seems to be stuck and hibernating in there getting bigger and bigger, so it's coming out this week for sure.'

But it wasn't until last night that Mel B finally went into labour with her third child and was admitted to hospital.

The singer was seen being escorted by her husband Stephen Belafonte and a bodyguard as she made her way to hospital..

And as our photos show Mel appeared to be in pain from contractions as she was helped to the hospital.

And breathe: Mel struggled to cross the road despite having the support of the two men and tried to concentrate on her breathing


She was dressed causally in a pair of light blue linen trousers and a blue hooded jumper with a skull and crossbones design.

Some 21 hours ago Mel had complained on Twitter that she couldn't sleep and that her husband was kindly rustling her up a snack.

Despite the early hour Stephen made her a healthy meal and she posted: '@Stephenthinks1 is cooking me chicken and greens,i have the best hubby EVER!!'

And it seems that the food finally did just the trick, just a few hours later Mel was in the Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Beverly Hills with her third daughter on the way.

Mel is already mother to Phoenix Chi, 12, from her marriage to Jimmy Gulzar and Angel, four, from her relationship with Eddie Murphy.

The singer and reality star announced that she was pregnant with her third child, her first with husband Stephen on Twitter back in March.
