Cheeky Geri Halliwell has a Marilyn moment as her skirt is caught in a gust of wind

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Whoops! The Spice Girl has a Marilyn moment as she attempts to hold down the dress during a gust of wind

The iconic image of Marilyn Monroe's dress being kicked up in a gust of wind from the subway below her is one of the most memorable and provocative in cinema history.

Geri Halliwell encountered a similar scenario over the weekend when her short skirt flew up in the breeze, revealing a glimpse of her underwear.

The Spice Girl was ready for the windy weather, though, wearing a pair of purple knickers with pink frills and writing that matched her hot pink dress.

Red face: Geri's wardrobe malfunction was captured by cameras

Miss Halliwell was chatting to neighbours in London when she was caught by the unexpected breeze, and emulated Marilyn's iconic pose as she struggled to hold her skirt down and not give her companions an eyeful.

The trio giggled as the 40-year-old attempted to preserve her modesty in the short dress.

Miss Halliwell did not appear to mind that the whole episode had been captured by nearby photographers, flashing the cameras a smile.

Short and tight: The singer stepped out in another short frock to watch Lady Gaga in London, but the tight hemline prevented any slip-ups
