Beach Bond: Pierce Brosnan shows off his expanding waistline on Hawaii break

By Daily Mail Reporter

Beach Bond: Pierce Brosnan and wife Keely Shaye Smith enjoyed the sunshine with their two small dogs on the beach in Hawaii yesterday

There was a time when Pierce Brosnan spent every spare minute in the gym, toning his body for roles like that of James Bond.

But he and his wife weren’t afraid to kick back and show-off their shapely curves on the beach in Hawaii yesterday.

The formerly-toned Bond star was clearly having a great time easing his way into his later years as he soaked up the sunshine on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, where he owns a home.

Fine form: Pierce was trim and toned when he starred in the Thomas Crown Affair in 1999, right

Hiding his larger form under a loose grey T-shirt, the Irish actor almost looked ready to take on another Secret Agent mission as he strapped on his rucksack and donned a baseball cap and shades.

Brosnan and his TV journalist wife, Keely Shaye Smith, are becoming a regular feature on Hawaii's shores.

Brosnan enjoyed a leisurely afternoon taking in the local wildlife and chatting merrily to his wife, who looked equally happy to be spending time with her husband on the sandy beach.

Sanding to attention: Pierce looked happy and relaxed on the beach yesterday

Brosnan, 57, and Keely, 47, married in 2001 and have two sons, Dylan, 14, and Paris, 10.

Brosnan lost his first wife, former Bond girl Cassandra Harris, in 1991 when she lost her battle with ovarian cancer.

Now he and Keely must surely be the envy of any married couple as they divide their time between sun kissed Florida and the tropical islands of Hawaii.

Brosnan admitted: ‘I live in the most beautiful part of the world now.’

When he isn’t shooting movies, he devotes a lot of his time to campaigning for global environment causes, and it is believed he conducts a lot of this work from Hawaii.

Keely is also a keen environmental journalist and together the pair frequently join forces to work with the conservation society, Sea Shepherd, in a bid to help protect marine mammals.
