Is she really suitable for X Factor's young audience? 17-year-old Taylor Momsen gyrates with scantily-clad girl on stage

Raunchy: Taylor Momsen gyrates on stage with a girl in a bra last night

She's the latest big name to be thrown into the US X Factor rumour mill.

But despite her young years and role on a hit prime time series, Taylor Momsen is hardly family-friendly.

The 17-year-old Gossip Girl star performed with her band the Pretty Reckless in New Jersey last night, where she gyrated seductively on stage with a scantily-clad girl.

The rebellious starlet teetered in platform 'stripper heels' and wore thigh-high red fishnet stockings to perform at the Wonder Bar in Asbury Park, New Jersey.

Taylor wore her hair in long braids and her trademark charcoal eye make-up.

Cheered on by the audience, she danced with another young woman who wore only a tiny pair of denim shorts over lace stockings and a black bra.
The pair danced provocatively as Taylor belted out the rock songs.

Risqué: Taylor wore 'stripper heels' and red fishnets for the performance

Rumours circulated online this week that Taylor is being courted by US X Factor producers to take part in the talent show.

Sources say the show thinks the controversial actress and singer is perfect because she's 'young, hip and edgy.'

The final line-up for the US judges panel is expected to be announced this week, but Momsen is thought to be up for a hosting role, possibly alongside Enrique Iglesias.

Her inclusion in the line-up would certainly make headlines, though not necessarily the good kind.

Too much too young? Taylor has scoffed at being a role model for young fans in past interviews

The last season of the UK version drew criticism for the sexed-up antics of guest performers including Rihanna and Christina Aguilera.

And Taylor's fondness for swearing, racy clothing and rock'n'roll attitude would certainly raise a few eyebrows.

While she may not be a more conservative audience's cup of tea, the teen won rave reviews from The Philadelphia Inquirer after a performance earlier this month.

'Her low-pitched purr, set against the choppy metallic kink of her band, showed off the sort of wrath that made Courtney Love famous,' the paper gushed.

Reckless: The singer and actress isn't likely to appeal to a more conservative audience

'Except that Momsen sounded clearer and finer than Love ever could.'

In a recent interview with celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, Momsen discussed her risqué fashion choices, which have garnered her a lot of criticism.

When asked if she thought she was hyper sexualising herself through her racy clothing, she said: 'Well I love vintage and I loved remaking vintage pieces. So that is where is started.'

'The white corset dress from the tour was a corset from the 1920's that got reworked.'

Meanwhile, it was confirmed that Momsen's band is the latest act to be added to this year's Download Festival line-up at Donington Park in the UK.

She will be joined by the likes of System of a Down, Linkin Park and Def Leppard during the musical festival held from June 10-12.
