Christina vs Cowell: Miss Aguilera takes on X Factor in a new singing competition with a twist

By Daily Mail Reporter

Taking on Cowell: Christina Aguilera has appeared in a promo video for her new talent show The Voice

It's been a rough year so far for Christina Aguilera, between her arrest last month for public intoxication, her disastrous Super Bowl appearance and collapsing on stage at the Grammy Awards.

But the singer is eager to move forward and is hard at work promoting her new singing competition series The Voice.

Christina appears perfectly groomed and together in a new ad campaign for the talent show, which will premiere on US television next month.

Twist: The talent competition merits contestants on their voice alone

The Burlesque star wears a black strapless dress, bright pink lipstick and oversize silver earrings in the video.

The 30-year-old appears alongside her fellow judges, Cee Lo Green, Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine and country singer Blake Shelton, to talk about the talent show with a twist.

The panel will sit with their backs towards the stage, unable to see competitors as they belt out their auditions.

No manners: The four judges have their backs to the competitors in order to judge them on their voice and not their appearance

All star: Cee Lo Green is also on the judging panel

'We get to concentrate on nothing but the voice,' Christina says.

Miss Aguilera appeared at a press conference this week with her fellow judges to promote the show, which premiers on April 26.

Speaking of The Voice recently, Aguilera said: ‘I am so excited to be part of such a wonderful project that celebrates music and the talent behind it.

‘To be given the opportunity to help shape new artists’ careers and mentor them to see their dreams come to fruition is a task I welcome with open arms.’

The grand prize winner of the new competition, which premieres on April 26th, will receive $100,000 and a record deal with a major label.

The show will make its debut ahead of the US X Factor, which is set to launch later in the year.

The grand prize winner of the new competition will receive $100,000 and a record deal with a major label.

Christina's new project comes just week after her drunken arrest in Los Angeles on March 1, when she spent the night in police custody.

Promo: Aguilera attended a press conference this week with country music star Blake Shelton, Maroon 5's Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green and TV producer Mark Burnett

Taking a turn: It was Christina's first public appearance since her recent drunken arrest earlier this month

Her boyfriend Matthew Rutler was arrested for driving under the influence in Los Angeles but left jail on a $30,000 bail.

Aguilera was also released on bail and no charges were filed.

Christina was Rutler’s passenger and the couple were pulled over when police caught the 25-year-old driving dangerously.

Her arrest came amidst U.S. media reports saying the star’s friends have been encouraging her to enter rehab for some time.

Since her marriage breakdown to Jordan Bratman last year, Aguilera has been under a noticeable about of strain.

She put in a disastrous Super Bowl performance in February, where she mixed up the words to the American National Anthem, and then collapsed on stage at the Grammy Awards, prompting fears for her health to escalate.

But the Burlesque actress is trying to put her troubles in the background while she gets her mind back on her career.

The Voice will debut on April 26 on NBC
