The unusual and quirky character - who Gaga has named Joe Calderone - then stayed with the star for the entire night, presenting Britney Spears with her lifetime achievement award and even accepting her own award 'on behalf of Gaga.'

Interestingly, the character even has his own Twitter page which currently had over 36,000 followers.

Meanwhile, Chris Brown officially rejoined the MTV family by performing for the first time since he plead guilty to assaulting Rhianna back in 2009.
