Not ready for her close up: The Only Way Is Essex star Lauren Goodger steps out make-up free

By Daily Mail Reporter

Natural: The Only Way Is Essex star Lauren Goodger is spotted without a scrap of make-up today

The golden rule of Essex - if the cast of the show based on some of its inhabitants are to believed - is to never step out of the house without fake tan, fake eyelashes and fake nails in place.

But star of The Only Way Is Essex Lauren Goodger appeared to break the style laws of Brentwood today when she stepped out today without a scrap of make-up.

The 23-year-old looked tired and dishevelled as she left fiancé Mark Wright's house to prepare for a day of filming for the ITV2 show.

Wearing a tight black top, Lauren was pale-faced without her usual heavy make-up, as she got into her car.

Her downcast appearance could be down to the reality star feeling unwell. She tweeted last night: 'Been filming with bad bad flu was hard 2day and yesterday I cant wait 2 shift this!!! 7.30am start 2moro.'

Or perhaps the ending of last night's episode left a sour taste in her mouth, as it showed Mark, 23, watching - somewhat creepily - as his former love interest Sam had a steamy kiss with another cast member Joey in the pool after a party.

Heading to work: The 23-year-old left her fiancé Mark Wright's house to start filming the ITV2 reality show

Despite Mark telling Sam in the first episode of season two that he was moving on from her in order to 'make a go of things' with Lauren, he appeared forlorn as he watched her move on too.

Pictures also emerged of Mark yesterday on a beach in Miami ogling scantily-clad sunbathers.

Lauren was scheduled to appear at a book signing with other members of the cast this afternoon at Lakeside shopping centre, but had to pull out when she was told she had to film all day.

Barely recognisable: Lauren looks completely different without her usual face full of heavy make-up

Jessica Wright, Lydia Bright, Lauren Pope and Kirk Norcross will be greeting fans and signing copies of their book, The Official Guide to Living Life the Essex Way, but the show's main stars Mark, Sam and Amy are not expected to attend.

In last night's episode of the show viewers saw Lauren and Mark visit dog kennels in search of a new puppy.

Lauren was filmed telling an unenthusiastic Mark that he either had to give her 'a dog or a baby.'

But no decisions were made as both appeared terrified of even the smallest of puppies.

Glamorous: Fans of the reality show are more used to seeing the fake-tanned cast dressed up in their Essex best
